Why Do You Need to Tune a Kalimba?
The metal tines of a kalimba can be affected by changes in ambient temperature and humidity. Additionally, daily playing and accidental bumps can cause the tines to shift, making the instrument go out of tune.

Tools Needed for Kalimba Tuning
You only need two key tools:

4 Simple Steps to Learn Kalimba Tuning
Step 1: Understand Your Kalimba First, understand the scale of your kalimba. Most 17-key kalimbas use the standard C Major scale. The longer tines in the center are the lower notes, and the shorter tines on the sides are the higher notes. The longest central tine is typically the D4 note, and the other notes alternate left and right.
Step 2: Prepare Your Tools and Turn on the Tuner Place your kalimba on a stable surface and open your tuning app. Make sure the environment is quiet to avoid interference with the tuner.
Step 3: Begin Moving the Tines This is the most critical step. Use the tuning hammer to gently tap the tines to change their pitch:

To lower the pitch: Gently tap the front end of the tine (the end closest to you). The tine will move outward, and the pitch will lower.
